8 Years of Neglect: The Reality of Bengaluru’s Tech Corridor Connectivity
It is alarming to see that a crucial 5.7-kilometer lifeline—Gattahalli Main Road—has remained in a deplorable state for nearly eight years. Connecting Huskur Main Road to Sarjapur Main Road, this stretch is vital for commuters in the tech corridor, yet it remains a hazard.
Mitilesh Kumar, Founder of Civic Opposition of India, highlighted the severity of the situation in a recent Times of India report, stating, "The condition of Gattahalli Road is a complete disgrace... It looks even worse than the roads people saw back in the 1970s and 80s."
Residents are facing daily battles with slush, potholes, and traffic nightmares. Beyond the inconvenience, it’s a health and safety risk—from residents suffering backaches to school buses struggling through dangerous terrain.
As taxpayers, we deserve better than excuses about "lack of funds." It’s time for accountability and immediate action to fix this basic infrastructure.

Prioritize Commuters, Not Just Vehicles: A Call for Holistic Mobility on ORR
The recent ban on bike taxis has had a severe ripple effect on Bengaluru's Outer Ring Road (ORR). As Mithilesh Kumar, Founding Member of Civic Opposition of India, points out in The Times of India, average commute times have surged by 50-70% since the ban. This isn't just about traffic; it's an economic issue. IT professionals are missing crucial meetings and daily scrums, directly impacting productivity. Rather than an outright ban, the solution lies in formalizing and regulating bike taxis. We need a holistic mobility plan that includes: • More BMTC buses and restored footpaths. • Completion of BMRCL girder works and functioning traffic signals. • Last-mile connectivity via shared autos or mini feeder buses. As Mithilesh states, we need a shift in perspective: "Prioritise commuters, not just vehicles."
